We’ve all heard it…go big or go home.
Think big….dream bigger.
Big is always better.
Big results start with big ambitions.
If find that sometimes I must take my focus off the big prize and
return my attention to the small things that will win it for me.
We’re told all the time to go big, it’s making the little things work together that create the bigger picture we seek. The small bricks in the above picture fit together to make a large wall.
We all love the forest. But it takes a whole bunch of trees to create it. And even those tress had to start with a seed. But who thinks about that tiny seed when admiring the immense beauty of the forest?
We must appreciate the small things because:
- Everything we want to achieve is made up of smaller parts of the whole. It’s just the way it is. You skip too many steps and your end result isn’t the best masterpiece it could be.
- There is a certain satisfaction in building something from the ground up. A manuscript has to start with an awesome first paragraph. A website has to have a tag line or photo that will make viewers want to see more. A following on social media starts with a few people. Knowing how to do anything doesn’t come all in one big gift.
- We learn something about ourselves along the way to our dream when we stop to perfect the small things. Do we have patience? Are we aware of our surroundings? Have we been rushing past important details?
Personally, big dreams scare me. Sometimes I just need to break them down into smaller increments to know I’m building it well.
How about you? How do you go big without sacrificing the joys of the small?
