My score indicated I was a “pretty good friend”.
What does that mean??
I value friendships, but I have also failed at them and have been failed by friends. Friendship is a tough job, full of inconsistencies, misunderstanding, distractions and more. Most of us don’t do it right all the time.
And most of us are “too busy” to invest in very many relationships.
If we take a look at the things we like most about friendship we would probably come up with a list that looks something like this:
Takes time for you
Is interested in you
Lets you talk!
I’m sure there are a bunch more things we could add. But what if we turn that list around and examine whether we fall short. We often expect more out of our friends than we do ourselves. I believe this is what causes more failure in friendships than any other thing – except maybe betrayal.
So that is the real test. The golden rule.
Are you being the kind of friend you want others to be?
If you took a friendship test, how do you think you would score?
