JAN CLINE, author, speaker
Jan is an author and speaker from the Pacific Northwest. She has been involved with the writing/publishing community for many years, and was the founder and director of the Inland NW Christian Writers conference for 5 years. She teaches at writer’s conferences and speaks for women’s groups in the Northwest.
After writing mostly non-fiction, Jan’s passion for history led her to a new love for writing fiction for the Christian market. She loves traveling all over the U.S. to research her stories.
Some of her past non-fiction publications include:
Simple Devotion, The Greatest of These is Love (through Barbour Pub.), and A Heart Out of Hiding
Chicken Soup for the Soul and various other anthologies
Fiction Lovers Devotional Series, contributing author, books 2 and 4
Contributor for Light from the Word, Wesleyan quarterly publication
Jan enjoys golf, attending her grandchildren’s sports activities, and loves to bake – proud to be called the queen of cheesecakes by her friends and family. She also indulges heavily in crafts such as quilting, painting, and scrapbooking. When she needs a break from a hectic life, she and her husband of 40+ years escape to their cabin on a northern Idaho lake.
Jan’s newest project is a Historical Women’s fiction series, American Dreams. Book 1, Heaven’s Sky, was released in Feb. 2019. Books 2 and 3 should be out by the end of 2019. Heaven’s Sky is set in the depression/dustbowl era and the following books will take us through WW2. The series follows the Wilding family through hardships and tragedy, with themes of resilience, forgiveness, and perseverance.
Jan spent a year researching her debut novel, Emancipated Heart, and is excited about sharing this poignant story. Set in a Japanese American internment camp during WWII, the book follows one family through the trials of life behind barbed wire. Considering the current events in our country, this book will remind us how easily history repeats itself, and how God calls us to act humanely in all situations. The topic of internment is not well taught in history books. Emancipated Heart will inform and educate, all while providing an entertaining, enjoyable read for anyone, especially history lovers. Category: women’s historical fiction
