I spent a few days with two friends for a writing retreat on a lake. The house we stayed in was set back a bit, but you could still see the water. It was a nice view…except for one thing – the big roof blocking it.
I kept wishing the roof wasn’t there. I wanted to see the lake and dream all the things you dream when you are gazing onto the water. If it just weren’t for that roof!
There’s always something to block your view. You have to learn to focus on what lies beyond.
So many things can distract us from what we are reaching for. We take our eyes off the prize, the goal, the dream, and soon we are discouraged and unable to get where we want to go.
Ever thought of repositioning yourself?
All I had to do was stand on the deck bench to get this shot. Just a step up gave me the view I longed for – the view I came to see.
You might have to move a bit to get what you want. Good things don’t always just drop in your lap. You have a brain and an imagination. Keep an open mind and make a few necessary adjustments. Just don’t lose sight of your goal.
Have you let something block your view? What might you do to clear the path?
